If there’s one thing I’ve learned about Stasia over our many years together it’s that the key to her happiness at big, outdoor events is access to healthy food and AC. So with the 2015 PGA Championship being held at Whistling Straits at nearby Kohler, WI my two main goals were to:
- Track down Wanamaker Club tickets for cheap. ✔
- Don’t forget to actually bring the tickets this year. ✔ (and a long story for another day)
With both of those goals achieved all that was left for us to do was to enjoy the incredible coastline views that were as abundant as the $12 beers and the lines of middle-aged men eager to buy them.
Hanging with Jordan Spieth and Friends
If you’ve never been to one of golf’s Major Championships, I’d highly recommend going to one of the practice rounds that take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Although in some respects you’re paying to watch glorified batting practice (to use a baseball analogy) the key difference here is that you get to be on the field and (almost) in the clubhouse.
As a golfer getting to see world-class players up close like Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, and Rory McIlroy is incredibly interesting, but even if you don’t know Jordan Spieth from Michael Jordan, just seeing all of the things that go on behind the scenes of a major sporting event like this is a great experience.
